No Ice at this time

Keep watching Modis
While there is no ice at this time you may be able to see it slowly descend on the Great Lakes from Hudson Bay on our MODIS Rapid Response link, located near the bottom of the Ice Reports
page on our website. When we were looking for ice at the end of the season last year we were able to see the ice retreat up the planet, followed closely by the green wave of spring coming up from the south. I think we will be able to see the reverse happening also. If you look closely at the MODIS images with the resolution set at 250 Meters in 'natural' color you will probably be able to see the color of the lakes with ice on them change from black to shades of gray, as the landscape changes from brown to white. You may have to go back in time on MODIS to find a clear day with no cloud cover. Then It's time for a road trip or a call to our club members in the UP for a real ice report. Time to get the rust off your runners!
